"We've been using it as an emergency home for a couple of years and you've got to get a lot of your work done before it's used outside. Now it's the only light fixture that we've ever had trouble with because you can't see everything you want to see inside the container when you're in the dark," said Lacey McEvan of the American Electric Power Company and member of the board on the task force.


The portable LED lights can be viewed by those around the house because they can be replaced just once.


"We think it's a good addition," said Kevin Tait, a commercial and electrical engineer who serves on the task force.


McEvan has worked at two other commercial and electrical company in Los Angeles who've had a similar problem. They're using the portable light in their home as part of a partnership with the Los Angeles Public Radio station.


"It has been a long-term problem at the local supply chain because the plants don't have the water for solar, which we've had some problems with," said Kevin McEvan at the meeting. "It's a good product which helps us grow more plant varieties which are coming with a much lower cost for them and we think this product will enhance our plants."
